to BoPat Farms
BoPat Farms is a registered Angus seedstock operation owned by Larry and Betty Lou Patterson. The
business started in 1964 as a row crop and livestock operation producing cotton, corn, soybeans, hogs
and cattle in a partnership with Betty’s parents, William and Frances Bolton. The business operated as
Bolton and Patterson Farms until Mr. Bolton’s passing.
The first registered Angus seedstock came on the
farm in 1967 and the herd has expanded to become the major enterprise. In order to keep the name
within the association limits the Bo from Bolton and Pat from Patterson was put together to form the
prefix BoPat and that name was carried over to the farm name. Cattle are produced in a practical
environment utilizing pasture and homegrown feeds when possible.
Modern technologies such as
EPD’s, ultrasound, and DNA are used as sorting tools in cattle breeding decisions. The cattle are
marketed by private treaty and an annual on-farm auction held the first Saturday in March since 1996.
The Family Tradition
Farming
Our family has been involved in the livestock industry for at least 5 generations. Previous generations
have not only raised cattle but also operated as dealers and livestock market operators. Betty and I are
blessed to have 3 wonderful daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren with another on the
way. Our girls have followed in their mother’s footsteps as teachers and educators. Betty served in the
classroom for 53 years. Two of our grandsons are involved full time with livestock production while
another helps while finishing his college degree. We are filled with gratitude to be able to be
surrounded by a loving family.

is a proud breeder of Black Angus cattle. We stand behind the tried and true genetic line of Angus that's proven fruitful in profitability, calving ease, marbling and growth. With on-going cultivation and research, we raise genetically-superior sires and donors that produce results.
